‘ve been waiting to give the new Airush Lithium a proper go now since I had the Varial X back in Zanzibar with me in July, and with the season just around the corner and the Constantly Kiting Airush Center flat out busy already as well as having the new Airush Lithium in stock I decided it’s time I got out and gave it a go.
My motivation to get out in the Cape North Wester is always brought on by my the happy sessions I used to have in winter time back in the UK down on Calshot, spit where I used to work at.
Solent Sailboards where I used to work, for a little over three year was a great training ground for me, crisp air always seem enjoyable until you lost your footing on the board there and landed up getting brain freeze cause the water was cold as all hell. Hahaha
I’m also being visited be an Solent Sailboards customer “Nick Ide” he managed to find his way to Little old langebaan and brought some good old English weather with him. So we decide it’s only fair that we get out and test some gear.
Anyway we are out, on the beach, pumping up and getting ready to go. I’m super blown away by the new colors; the Lithium instantly impresses me just on its looks and with in a few mins I’m ready to go.
I had seen Oswald Smith (AIrush Team Rider) out on blue and orange Lithium the earlier this week; already then I thought it looked sick. Great graphics and standing apart from every other kite in the sky.
However for me, it’s all about performance and making sure that it’s going to work for the people I recommended this kite to.
Launched and up and riding I’m feel comfortable already. Having rented Nic (my solent customer) the new 9 DNA, we head off in to the Langebaan North Wester as if it was a great day back in the Solent. It’s not even my first run and I’m already boosting and enjoying the kite. It gives me instant gratification to the point that I already know its technical ability will suit even the most entry level of kiters that have had lessons with us. It’s turning speed is fantastic as well a really contender in the sky.
Stable, Quick turning, Instant depower and most fun of all, great boosting ability. I start thinking about what I’m going to do next with it when I forget the bar has had some great upgrades as well.
The new depower strap buckle is far easier to use. The new PVC coating is for sure going to make the centerline more durable and as for grabbing the bar it’s now has great substance and feels comfortable in your clutches.
I carry on kiting.
Im an hour into my ride now with Nick Just behind me, I turn my head to gage my distance from him as I feel a surge of wind fill the Lithium up.
I send it…………….
OMG…………………
Not only am I above the DNA I’m looking down over it and I’m just floating about 30 foot up and beginning to drift down as if I’m weight less. I land thing AGAIN AGAIN like a kid on a fun ride.
This kite just delivered a fantastic afternoon for me.
Performance to me has never been about how much I can get out of my kite, for me it’s always been gagged on how I feel once I’m off the water. As part of that feeling I consider everyone I talk to about the kites I ride and the kite I have just experienced that day. It’s ability to simply please every kiter I come in contact with is my way performance opinion. In short Performance is a quality that sparks an emotion to share happiness and I call that new Emotion the “Airush Lithium“
See you on the Water.
